FAQs
Oh, good. You’re the questioning kind. We at TrustyPony not only encourage that sort of behavior, we anticipate it. You should find what you need right here.
- Q: What is this “TrustyPony.com”?
- TrustyPony.com is a travel-item weblog, your go-to place for leisure travel products of all kinds. We don’t sell these items. We link to where you can buy them elsewhere on the web. Consider us a filter. You don’t have to spend your precious time searching through hit-or-miss web pages and stores for that cool/useful/perfect item for your trip. We do the hunting for you and store our finds on TrustyPony.com, in our searchable archives, which grow larger each weekday. We’re not about more stuff. We’re about finding the right stuff.
- Q: A travel-item weblog? But why?
- Because we want you to get out there and explore the world, and we want you to do it in style. Your style. Plus, we saw a need for a trustworthy travel-specific product site not linked to a particular brand.
- Q: How often are new items added to the site?
- Every weekday, pretty much.
- Q: Who is TrustyPony.com?
- TrustyPony was kick-started by Berit Thorkelson, a longtime writer and traveler who has slept in a house made of dung in the Himalayan foothills of Nepal and once, in Iowa, touched the World’s Largest Cheeto—both thrilling experiences by her account. Berit currently lives and writes in West Saint Paul, Minnesota. She’s an ASJA member too, by the way.
Hooray! Jug George stepped up to act as Views from the Road photo-hunter, MySpace manager, et al. He’s a man about town, a creative force with a novel for sale, a screenplay in the works, and a wardrobe that relies heavily on the color brown. Jug has appeared on a German game show and bar-hopped alongside Tim Burton in Prague. He resides in Saint Paul, Minnesota. TrustyPony is lucky to have him. - Q: What does “trusty pony” mean?
- Maybe we’re conjuring the Pony Express. Maybe we want you to remember a time when you wanted, more than anything, a pony of your very own. Maybe it means we, much like a trusty pony, live to help you go places. Maybe we prefer ambiguity and have a thing for words that end in “y.”
- Q: Do companies pay you to feature products on TrustyPony?
- Nope.
- Q: But you get kickbacks if I buy things, right?
- Wrong.
- Q: I have another question, not listed here. What should I do?
- Why, you should email us and we’ll see if we can’t get it answered for you.
