Record snowfall prefaced my ski trip last March. One local told me there was so much snow downtown they had to haul it away, continuously, truckload after truckload. People shoveled seven, eight, nine feet of snow off their roofs and carved shovel-width pathways to their homes. We got lucky—the skiing was incredible.
