Water-resistant Travel Journal Kit by Rite in the Rain

I’ve been neglecting you, and for that, I apologize. But I’m back in time to alert you to the FINAL DAY of the latest gear contest over at The Gear Junkie, where the unstoppable Mr. Regenold is giving away some of his favorite outdoor gear of 2008. Check out the prizes and enter the contest here. Among the goodies: Rite in the Rain pens and notebooks, special rain-defying products that allow you to successfully jot thoughts, plans, sketches and such in inclement weather and adventurous water-oriented situations. The Gear Junkie even ran the paper under a faucet, without so much as a smudge of the ink resulting.

Enter away—good luck!

kickBACK iPhone case and stand by Scosche

Switch out the smooth protective back for the hinged one when you travel, so you can prop your iPhone up on your tray table and enjoy wide-screen video viewing. Because having an iPhone is no longer cool enough. You must also house it most effectively.

Digital luggage scale by Design Go

Yet another handy luggage scale to help you craftily dodge at least one of the airlines’ ever-multiplying fees. Luggage scales help you pack appropriately on the way out and then spread the souvenir weight out accordingly on the way back, making for a nice, streamlined process that doesn’t involve crossing your fingers and/or desperately rifling through your overflowing luggage in front of a line full of impatient fellow travelers. Side note: This one is sold by my favorite new online travel goods store wejetset. Check it out.

Danger Bomb Travel Alarm

Wakes you up with an explosion sound, which you stop by unplugging the correct colored-wire connection, thus diffusing this “bomb.” (The diffusion code resets randomly after each use.) Clearly not your best choice for carryon.

The booster part deflates, allowing the whole thing to fold into a lightweight little pack, with handle, that’s less than two inches thick. Easily wipes clean.

Garment Bag in a Pouch by Baggallini

Easy to store. Those pouches at the bottom when it’s in an unfolded state could make this a stand-alone piece for a weekend traveler with mad packing skills. Comes in periwinkle, too.

iZap portable toothbrush sanitizer by Violight

An affordable case that sanitizes your toothbrush during storage. Because who knows what bacteria lurks on hostel sinks and hotel countertops? Ew.
